These terms apply when you use Detective Speaking. By creating an account you agree to them.

The game

Detective Speaking is a series of written detective stories you play by speaking or typing. Speech recognition works out what you asked; the story, the facts and the endings are written in advance.

Your account

You need an account to play. Keep your email secure, because sign-in codes are sent there. Accounts are for one person; you can play one game at a time.

Fair use

Every question costs us money to process, so we set limits on turns per game and games per day. They are generous for normal play. We may pause accounts that are shared or automated.

Purchases

When purchases are available, they are handled by Paddle as merchant of record, and Paddle’s buyer terms also apply. The price and what it includes are shown before you pay. [Refund policy.]

What’s ours and what’s yours

The stories, characters, recordings and artwork belong to Detective Speaking. What you say in a game is yours; you let us process it to run the game, as the privacy page explains.

Changes and availability

We work to keep the game available but cannot promise it will never be interrupted. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email before the change applies.
